Life and its intracies, fallacies and challenges
Well, today being the trek, I was returning home earlier than usual from office. Well on the way, just as I took a turn, a signal changed to red. So I had to stop in a hurry and just missed the stop line but I still stopped. Another guy had ideas to the contrary and without bothering about the red light, continued on.
Unfortunately for him, just a little past the signal, a few traffic cops were waiting to conduct surprise checks and hence stopped him. At first he refused to move to the side and wanted to continue on but finally relented. He spoke something with the cops and after a minute, the cops signalled for me to go to them. At first I thought it might be to check us and question us as well since I had crossed the stop line as well.
Got this off ASR. A really funny read and quite true too ;).
So how true would this be? I think it’s quite accurate and true. It’s a rant yeah but does make sense.
So now, I claim to be a nice guy. Any girls out there willing to prove me wrong ;) :P
How much is this situation prevalant? I have myself noticed this phenomen in a few of my cousins. They are rude, unconcerned with others and always ready to shift the blame.
And in most cases, I feel, it happens to the filthy rich where the parents try and solve all their problems related to their kids through money. Is our generation really going down like this. And if this is the current scenario, what about the next generation?
The Don’t Blame Me Generation
Today was Holi, the festival of colors. This festival is celebrated in remeberance of the triumph of Good over Evil (Aren’t they all ;) )
Anyway, so my cousin and a couple of his friends planned for a big get together for the festival to celebrate. And celebrate we did. It was a huge blast with about 200 people coming for the party, splashing colors on each other, smearing colored powder on each other’s faces. It did not matter if you knew the other person or not, what mattered was having fun, coloring each other.
Anyway, in the party, a couple of large barrels were filled with water, color mixed in them and then using buckets, everyone was doused with it :D And to add icing, I had gotten some silver and golden colors which would not come of so easily. With those, I decorated everyone’s faces, necks etc, making them all look like some sort of participants in a pagan ceremony ;)
After the party, I decided to surprise the people in office. I knew if I called in advance, they _might_ bar my entry into office. So I went without any information with a couple of packets of dry color powder (called Gulal). At first, they all tried to excuse themselves, saying they were wearing pretty clothes, new clothes, were allergic etc. But I had thought of all that. The colors which I had brought along were organic so would not cause a reaction. And they were just simple powder which would get off the clothes usually with a dusting or atmost a wash. So finally, when I got bugged of the excuses, I got down to threats :D and threatened to color them at their desks itself. This got them out.
Once this happened and they started playing, they forgot all the excuses and got immersed. As stated here, here and here, they had a lot of fun and enjoyed it :)
All in all, an awesome fun filled day!

Hilarious observation by Chandrahasa. (This for straight people only :P)
Q. What is worse than a guy calling you after watching Brokeback Mountain saying he liked it?
A. Him saying he remembered you while watching the movie and hence called you!
:D
Had been to one of the most fun parties I have been to in a long time. It was a party organised by a group of my friends, and co-incidentally they chose yesterday to hold it which was also my birthday :)
Though I reached a bit early, with many of them coming about 9.30 pm or so.. Everyone went for dinner after that. The party really started after we came back.. Lighted a few candles, put on some music (not slow romantic stuff but a mix of bhangra, rock, pop and the like)
Everyone was dancing and it was so much fun with no lights and only a couple of candles lighting up the place. (They had originally planned for strobes and some disco lights but there were not available :( )
After quite some dancing, and most ppl tired, we all played a game of truth & dare after which sat around chatting some more.. By then it was already almost 4. And since I know my dad wakes up around 4ish, I returned home, which is like 5 min from their home. Sneaking was fun and luckily I was wearing rubber soled sneakers so managed to get in relatively quietly ;)
All in all, it was really a fun day!
Got a nice surprise today when everyone here in office celebrated my birthday, which is tomorrow today.
We had gone out for lunch. Unknown to me, one of them here, Vidya delayed me on purpose. Me, I did not suspect anything. We were quite a bit late in going but everyone else was waiting for us, which though I did find a wee suspicious that they waited for us, but anyway we carried on with lunch.
So we were just chatting around and eating. About near the end, the restaurant to which we had gone, Pizza Hut, played the “Happy Birthday to you” song. Now it being my birthday tomorrow, the rest of the ppl started singing too. Though I did not realise the song was played specially for me :) I thought it was for others. Only when the cakes (Yes, cakes, there were two of ’em) I realised they were giving a surprise. And a very pleasant one too.
So they lighted up the candles, and everyone once again sang Happy Birthday. And then the people in Pizza Hut sang a different version again wishing me for my birthday.
In all, it was great fun. Thanks everyone who did it :-)
I’m disgusted and extremely sad today. One of the best guys one can know, Tom Vogt, creator of the best game I have ever played, Battlemaster, which is a browser based, online RPG, recently gave up playing his own game. Why? Because some of the players playing _his_ game, accused him of cheating and using means which benifit him and his player.
Not only was that the must absurd and disgusting thing I heard, it hurt him so much, he decided to delete his account and give up playing _his_ own game. Today he made an announcement stating that he had been so disillusioned by that episode that he had lost motivation in the development of the game.
And I’m sad. Not for the development of the game but for Tom because from what interaction I have had with him, he is a fantastic guy and a terrific person. And he did not deserve to be treated as he was by players for whom he had done so much.
