Life and its intracies, fallacies and challenges
Okay.. This really cracked me up when I heard it.
I had to work today (My first saturday in office :-( ). But before that I also had to purchase tickets for a trip for some relatives. And it so happened I got late. So I left in a rush and forgot to carry my cell phones. (Yes phones, I have 2 of ’em :-D)
Apparantely, my dad had asked me to give him a call around noon to give the status of the tickets. This part, I missed. Now when noon passed, my dad started calling me but since no one answered, he kept on trying. After about a few (20 I’m told) calls, he became frantic. So he called the travel agency where I was supposed to purchase the tickets and asked if those tickets had been made. For some reason, the person there told him that no such tickets were made. Then my dad called my office. Buuut, incidently, at that time, I had gone for lunch. And the security personnel who answered, who did not know my name, told him I never came to office.
This weekend was quite a bit of fun. Watched a movie, Wedding Crashers. It’s a pretty good movie with the starting and the middle parts but the ending is too cliched with the usual “nice guy gets the girl” ending. (Warning: Adult humor and language with some scenes unsuitable for the young)
On sunday, we visited an amusement park called Wonderla. And boy was it fun. It was an amazing trip. We have a couple of other amusement parks in our city but this _is_ the best I’ve visited so far. The rides were thrilling with some of them taking us 360° in all the directions.
And the most fun were the water rides. There is this huge wave pool where we spent half an hour playing the waves. Then came all the slides. Some were crazy, us having to go belly down on a mat. In another, the drop was almost vertical and the speed one gained was scary.
But we did all of ’em not. And fun it was a lot :-)
I also seem to have caught something cos my throat has been aching since last night. And I have aches all over. Serves me right though for not getting enough exercise. Need to start more physical activities soon ;-)
PS. Thanks to Swetha for the amazing song which I’m listening to right now :-)
I was recently returning from work and I noticed a car with it’s rear licence plate carrying a message. Being dark, initially guessed it to be one of the “Jesus Saves”, “God is Great” slogans and paid no attention to it. But co-incidentally, I happened to stop behind the same car. At that point, being in better light, I could clearly read the plate. It said,

University of Illinois
Now come on! Alright so you have studied abroad, studied in University of Illinoi !!(I will assume the guy was referring to the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign since it is one of the top universities in the US)
SO? You are not the first one nor are you going to be the last one.
But he (Again I assume it was a guy) is not the only one to do this. I have come across numerous relatives who are solely referred to as “he is the one who did his engineering in the US”, or “he is the one who is married and settled in the US” and it irritates me to no end. Why is studying abroad, more particularly in the US considered some sort of nirvana, something which if one does, he immediately rises up in the eyes of all around him. Just to stress on the the opposite, the CAT for the Indian Institute of Managements and various other management exams, the JEE for the Indian Institute of Technology, the GATE for Post Graduate studies in India are _much_ more tougher than the Sats and the Gmat/Gre.
Bah!
Note: I plan to pursue my Master’s degree in Business in the US for reasons which I will not go into here since it would seem like defensive excuse giving which I don’t want to or have to. I only state what I felt about the person in the car with the alumni plates. But that said, I take pride in my country and what it has to offer! :-)
Ok.. I know I’ve been away far too long. It was all a combination of a hectic work schedule, a few other priorities in life and generally being a little messed up in the top floor.
In the past few weeks I’ve had a product release come up, postponed and also been away to Kolkata(Calcutta) for a cousin sister’s wedding. The wedding was awesome fun but I was darn sad to see my sis leave. She is one of my favorite sisters after all :-(
Well I’ll try to be a little lot more active from now on! I also have a couple of issues which I want to write about.. :-)
Another mail which gave a bit of a laugh! Again, I cannot verify it’s authenticity!
