An actor called Rajkumar, Dr. RajKumar actually, a local actor, died today. Though we got the news at about 1430, It was not a big deal to me except that I got a half day off ;). But what I did not like, kinda pissed me off was the reactions of his so called fans.
There were reported rioting, tyre burning and apparantely calls for a bandh tomorrow. And all this because Rajkumar died. It’s not like he was murdered or killed in some demonstration but he died of natural causes. So what do these fans want to prove? That he should have been immortal? Or are they showing their fanboyism by mourning his death by stoning others burning tyres? What are you exactly trying to prove?
No I did not really like Rajkumar because he was a huge influence and in my opinion he did not always use that influence for the right. But that’s my opinion! And now with his death, he is only causing grief to people who are affected by these riots. A friend of mine narrowly escaped today. A stone thrown at her bus hit a window close to where she was sitting. I am glad nothing happend to her and she escaped unhurt.
Watched V for Vendetta, the movie, today. Excellent movie. Very well filmed and directed but most of all, it sticks religiously to the original Comic Book by the same name and written by the Great Comic Book Writer Alan Moore. Yes some parts have been changed for requirements of commercialization of the movie but it is largely the same. Really liked the movie. And of course, I do like the dialogue delivery and speech mannerism of Hugo Weaving who playes the title character. He is brilliantly supported by Natalie Portman who is extremely beautiful.
Ps. Since today is 1st of April, when the plan was made, I was a bit hesitant thinking that my friends might be playing a prank on me regarding the movie plan ;) Thankfully it was not so.
Pps. Rather disappointed that I did not get a chance to play any prank on anyone being that I am slightly on the prankster side :(

First Trek, Experience – Not entirely pleasant.
So I’m back from the trek. I’ll let it suffice to say that while it was quite fun in the beginning, it turned quite sour for me on the first day, mainly due to my suffering severe leg cramps which would not allow me to walk at all. I spent about the entire afternoon of Saturday sitting and wincing in pain due to the cramps. The other part was the monotony of walking along the track unable to enjoy the surroundings, the scenery, the view due to the requirement of watching the track and where one puts their next step.
Walking on the stones which are filled between the railway tiers is not good for the legs due to the stones being loose and hence unstable.
I’ll be going for a jungle trek over the weekend. It’ll be my first ever trek/hike and am quite excited about it. It’s to a place called Yedakumari which will be the starting point for the trek. From there we’ll be trekking for about 2 days through forests, railway tunnels, bridges, along an old abandoned railway line.
There are about 35 people in the group going for the trek and it looks extremely promising and fun :)
Today was Holi, the festival of colors. This festival is celebrated in remeberance of the triumph of Good over Evil (Aren’t they all ;) )
Anyway, so my cousin and a couple of his friends planned for a big get together for the festival to celebrate. And celebrate we did. It was a huge blast with about 200 people coming for the party, splashing colors on each other, smearing colored powder on each other’s faces. It did not matter if you knew the other person or not, what mattered was having fun, coloring each other.
Anyway, in the party, a couple of large barrels were filled with water, color mixed in them and then using buckets, everyone was doused with it :D And to add icing, I had gotten some silver and golden colors which would not come of so easily. With those, I decorated everyone’s faces, necks etc, making them all look like some sort of participants in a pagan ceremony ;)
After the party, I decided to surprise the people in office. I knew if I called in advance, they _might_ bar my entry into office. So I went without any information with a couple of packets of dry color powder (called Gulal). At first, they all tried to excuse themselves, saying they were wearing pretty clothes, new clothes, were allergic etc. But I had thought of all that. The colors which I had brought along were organic so would not cause a reaction. And they were just simple powder which would get off the clothes usually with a dusting or atmost a wash. So finally, when I got bugged of the excuses, I got down to threats :D and threatened to color them at their desks itself. This got them out.
Once this happened and they started playing, they forgot all the excuses and got immersed. As stated here, here and here, they had a lot of fun and enjoyed it :)
All in all, an awesome fun filled day!

Hilarious observation by Chandrahasa. (This for straight people only :P)
Q. What is worse than a guy calling you after watching Brokeback Mountain saying he liked it?
A. Him saying he remembered you while watching the movie and hence called you!
:D
Had been to one of the most fun parties I have been to in a long time. It was a party organised by a group of my friends, and co-incidentally they chose yesterday to hold it which was also my birthday :)
Though I reached a bit early, with many of them coming about 9.30 pm or so.. Everyone went for dinner after that. The party really started after we came back.. Lighted a few candles, put on some music (not slow romantic stuff but a mix of bhangra, rock, pop and the like)
Everyone was dancing and it was so much fun with no lights and only a couple of candles lighting up the place. (They had originally planned for strobes and some disco lights but there were not available :( )
After quite some dancing, and most ppl tired, we all played a game of truth & dare after which sat around chatting some more.. By then it was already almost 4. And since I know my dad wakes up around 4ish, I returned home, which is like 5 min from their home. Sneaking was fun and luckily I was wearing rubber soled sneakers so managed to get in relatively quietly ;)
All in all, it was really a fun day!
Got a nice surprise today when everyone here in office celebrated my birthday, which is tomorrow today.
We had gone out for lunch. Unknown to me, one of them here, Vidya delayed me on purpose. Me, I did not suspect anything. We were quite a bit late in going but everyone else was waiting for us, which though I did find a wee suspicious that they waited for us, but anyway we carried on with lunch.
So we were just chatting around and eating. About near the end, the restaurant to which we had gone, Pizza Hut, played the “Happy Birthday to you” song. Now it being my birthday tomorrow, the rest of the ppl started singing too. Though I did not realise the song was played specially for me :) I thought it was for others. Only when the cakes (Yes, cakes, there were two of ’em) I realised they were giving a surprise. And a very pleasant one too.
So they lighted up the candles, and everyone once again sang Happy Birthday. And then the people in Pizza Hut sang a different version again wishing me for my birthday.
In all, it was great fun. Thanks everyone who did it :-)
