Brilliantly dark – Movie Review: The Dark Knight
Some people are going to go watch The Dark Knight at 3 AM in the morning. Not me cos I just finished watching it. :D
My thoughts on The Dark Knight below (Warning: Definite spoilers)
Two words: It rocks. And hard.
The movies is deeper, darker and longer than Batman Begins. The story is much more complex and the joker is much harder to deal with. In Batman Begins, Bruce Wayne had to reconcile with his parent’s deaths and learn to be the man in the mask; in The Dark Knight, he has to choose whether to continue or whether to give up the fight so that Harvey Dent can capture the criminals “legally” and hence not put innocent bystander’s lives in peril.
From the movie, first the good parts:
Heath Ledger has given a mindblowing performance. The movie for me was the Joker’s than Batman’s.
Christian Bale has given a very understated performance. The conflict between Gotham’s need for Batman vs Batman giving in to the Joker’s demand and turning himself in was handled quite well by him.
Gary Oldman is good as in the last movie. Harvey Dent was done well but he was given a different origin (probably to incorporate his angle with Rachel)
The acceptable parts:
Some of the stunts and the gadgets were excessively flashy. More appropriate for a James Bond movie.
The Worst:
Whoever cast Maggie Gyllenhal as Rachel should be fired! Thank goodness we will not have to suffer bad casting for that character any further! Gyllenhal’s preening in the beginning of the movie and later characterization was exceptionally as bad. I was literally relieve when the character Rachel is killed!
Watch it, it is an amazing movie!

Lol, I totally agree on that. The Rachel in the previous movie was much better though, and well, I’m evil for saying this, but no Rachel is better than a MG-Rachel.
Peace out!
Hey Rosh,
I agree that the casting has been bad so far. But I am not sure I recognized who MG-Rachel is..
